Who will be the first?
Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 9:28AM If you don't count the 11 years and six months that came before yesterday, it took me just around an hour to publish On the Way to Someplace Else on Kindle.
(We must also not count the four hours invested in publishing What Happened on Smith Street on Kindle, too. A process I screwed up in the end, anyway, and subsequently had to fix.)
So, streamers and balloons. Fanfare. Whoo-hoo, et cetera. All that remains now is to see who will be the first to purchase a copy. It could be you.
Each e-book costs a mere 99 cents. No Kindle? (Relatively) no problem. If you own an iPad, you might consider downloading the Kindle reader app. If you own a Nook or are sans e-Reader altogether, you may still purchase a copy and read it on your computer. Sounds dreadful, I know, but did I mention it's only 99 cents? Oh--I guess you could try it on a smartphone, too!
Here is what we want: 10,000 sales. Each. This isn't about the money. 10,000 copies of each book sold via Kindle would generate $7,000 for me. Full disclosure. That's a decent sum; I wouldn't sneeze at it. But the point is that 10,000 copies of each book will also generate interest from a publisher and help me along my way.
So, please post this on your facebook, your twitter, your whatever else is out there that I don't understand and don't want to understand.
I should sound more excited, but the truth is I'm kind of weary. That's a good sign, actually. It means I was ready to let OWSE go, finally.
