Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 8:53AM Have you ever just forgotten an entire episode in your life? I'm not talking about a conversation or what you had for dinner one night. An entire series of events that transpired during your waking hours, over a period of weeks or even months?
Evidently, I have.
This is troubling to me, because as I have mentioned more than once in this space, I remember everything. Everything. Except, it seems, some events between the months of (permit me to ballpark here, if you would) August and November of 1986.
I think.
It doesn't bother me so much that I forgot some stuff. It bothers me that I forgot any stuff. Because, well, what else have I forgotten? And how important was it?
To clarify, I forget things all the time--but these are things that have not yet happened. I forget to call the dentist and reschedule my appointment (can you believe it's been six months again already?). I forget to call and set the appointment for my yearly physical. So, I forget to do things, yes. But once something has happened, it's kind of in the books for good.
Hmmmm...now I'm thinking that because I have remembered it at all, I never actually forgot it. Yes, I believe that's right. Don't you? It wasn't so much forgotten as it was filed away until I needed it again.
Well. That's a relief.
