More shoes!

I am not kidding. I saw another pair of shoes on the side of the road one morning this week. It was a different road, but the same journey; taking the boy to school.

This pair was black. It looked like something between a sneaker and a casual dress shoe. The shoes were placed very neatly next to each other on the sidewalk, as if waiting for someone to come along and step into them.

I find this very strange. Don't you? Again, this is The Woodlands, essentially the model for Pleasantville. If I had seen a pair of shoes at the corner of Washington and Heights, or even at the end of my driveway in our old neighborhood, I would not have been alarmed.

Who is leaving these shoes lying around? What do they mean??
