Eureka.
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 9:15PM People talk quite a bit about balance. Balance between work and home seems to be the most common issue. I used to get very wound up about this, when I was starting my career and starting my family--pretty much at the same time. (I'm smart like that.)
I kept trying and trying to strike the balance between the two. At the same time. (Again, with the smarts.)
But I think I may have had an ephiphany. Balance is something that should be considered over the long term. If you try to do it on a day-to-day basis, you'll make yourself crazy. Like me. And, while I think we'll agree that I have my good points, the inside of my head is a dicey place, at best. Enter at your own risk, and tread lightly. I cannot guarantee what you might awaken in there. Eels, for sure.
Regarding balance, though, I can offer this nugget: If you're struggling in this area, try taking a longer look. Live the moment that you have, and recognize that--no matter what kind of moment it is--it won't last forever.
