Crossing that line.

It's true that I get a little twitchy when things aren't done the "right" way." And--I swear; I swear--I really do mean the "right" way and not "my" way.

I'm very open-minded.

No, really.

But suppose you have a box of crackers, and that box has an end that is clearly marked, "Open Here." And then suppose the other end is equally clearly marked, "Open Other End."

Why wouldn't you heed that advice? You'll be able to close the box securely once you have procured your crackers. (I'll save my frustration with how the plastic that makes up the individual sleeves of crackers never separates properly for another post.) (You're welcome.)

Why would you tear into the opposite end, rendering the entire box all but useless in the process?

And, no, Rebecca, this is not the same as my freak-out when someone crumples a crisp dollar bill. Although I do hate that. Or--here's another one--tears open a chocolate bar without removing the overwrap and foil. What the hell, people?? Ha ha ha ha ha! (I'm so not well.)

I'm not a neat-nik by any stretch, but I do like things to be in order. I like to be able to put things away neatly, should the mood strike.

Besides, some industrial design engineer went to a lot of trouble designing that box and that candy wrapper, albeit at least 60 years ago. The least we can do is honor his or her memory.

Tab and slot. Perfect complements. Don't hate on the tab and slot.

I'm just saying.

I respect the tab and the slot, I really do. I'm just completely incapable of opening the box in such a way that the tab and slot are preserved for future use!

I'll give you credit for trying, Jen. Sometimes, they use waaaay too much glue.
