The way it's supposed to work.
Monday, April 19, 2010 at 9:09PM First of all, I cannot believe you let me get away with that lame title on my last post. "Interesting irony."
Brrrr!!
Second, Puma recently announced that it will no longer use boxes for its shoes. Going forward, shoes will be packed in cardboard forms and reusable bags. The CEO of Puma said they got tired of waiting for world leadership to sort out environmental/industrial standards, so they did it themselves.
You go, Puma. And, truly, that's the way it should work. We shouldn't need governments to get involved in any of this stuff. We should be able to count on business leaders and other types of leaders to make thoughtful and responsible decisions.
And then I recall the Industrial Revolution, child labor, yada-yada-yada.
So, although it's nice to think that the human race can self-regulate its way through this morass of global issues, our track record would seem to indicate otherwise. In many cases.
Sigh.
