Spring Break film festival, Volume 1.5.
Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 3:06PM Well. I wish I'd had this idea at the beginning of the week, but sometimes that's just how it goes. Volume 1 will have been The Pacific, of course. Actually, it was Volume .5, since it's a mini-series. Although, I should divide it up properly according to the number of episodes, but I think we all know how much I enjoy pretending I'm no good at math.
We finally got around to watching The Hurt Locker last night.
Meh.
I mean, sorry, but...meh. Not meh as in, "Why did I waste 130 minutes of my life on that?" More like meh, as in, "Okay, that was a fine film, but it felt very much like I just spent 130 minutes of my life watching a film." Good actors, good directing. But the story just didn't flow for me.
I'm just not sure what the creators wanted me to think at the end of it, other than, "Holy $#!+, that's a dangerous, freakin' job." And, yeah, I do think that. But I think I thought that anyway. So...again, I just don't know. It didn't speak to me. I think that's what I'm trying to say.
I do love it when Ralph Fiennes just randomly appears, though. He did that with In Bruges, too. What a nice touch!
I will report back tomorrow on tonight's screening. Not sure what it will be yet, but we'll come up with something.
