If a planet in another galaxy exploded...

Wouldn't you think that if your planet were technologically advanced enough to allow for a personal space vehicle in every garage, so that if you were under attack you could simply pop your offspring into said vehicle, jettison him or her into space and hope that he or she would land someplace friendly...

...wouldn't you think that a planet so technologically advanced could somehow develop defensive systems sophisticated enough to withstand an attack of such a grand scale that you would be required to make use of your personal space vehicle for anything other than recreational purposes?

Because I would certainly think so.

And wouldn't you also think with everything going on in the world, I would come up with something more important to ponder on a Sunday morning run?

Yeah, I would have thought so, too.

So there you have it. Planet Krypton spent too much time on personal space travel and not enough on defense, and I spend too much time pondering the decisions make by fictitious societies.
