Sustainability report.
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 11:35AM I was afraid of this. Way back when I launched this Web site, I was afraid I wouldn't have enough content to sustain it. Back then, when my friend Katie told me, "You need to blog," I reacted as if I had been snake-bitten.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
(Actually, that's probably not what I would say if I had, in fact, been bitten by a snake. But this is a family publication. What Happened on Smith Street, incidentally, is not. I mention this only because people have been asking.)
The point is, I didn't want to become enslaved by a blog. I reasoned that if I spent all my creative energy writing witty posts for my journal, I would have very little left for the other kind of writing. And the other kind of writing is the real goal, here.
Today, I posted a new entry. It was live for about ten minutes before I deleted it. It was crap. Absolute crap. Sort of like this.
In short, I need to hole up for a bit. According to the printer, I will have a new proof to review tomorrow. I'll update my journal when it arrives. For now, though, I really need to get some writing done.
(I've never examined it before, but I believe this crankiness is a part of my creative process. If so, good things are coming soon--but probably not for you. You will have to wait until the good things take final form as my next novel.)
