What? Already?

I have already bought some Christmas presents. This is huge for me. I will tell you why:

  1. I am woefully unorganized. Christmas surprises me each year.
  2. I'm not a big fan of the holiday. (No, really? But you seem so warm and cuddly, Erin K. Rice.)

It's true. I'm more of a Thanksgiving kind of girl. Family, food, football. All the same stuff we have at Christmas, only without the frenzy. Frenzy makes me twitchy.

We are having Thanksgiving at my house this year. My parents and my brother Mark (the thoughtful engineer) are coming. Plus our neighbors will be around; and I really like our neighbors. I'm all sorts of excited about it. At least seven different sorts. To start the day, my husband and I--along with our two daughters--will run five miles through The Woodlands.

Note: I have never run five miles, consecutively, outside, in my life. And usually when I make my regular, three-mile run, my dog (the hyperactive one) is pulling me along. Not forcefully, but just enough to keep me honest. I am seriously considering slapping a pair of running pants and a shirt on her and trying to sneak her in.

Do you think anyone would notice?

Yeah. Me, too.

Happy Thanksgiving to all five of you. Enjoy your families, your turkey, your wine and then your nap. Think of Seinfeld and L-tryptophan, even though there isn't actually enough of it in turkey to make you sleepy. But I'm thinking, if we think it makes us sleepy, and then we get sleepy, what's the difference?
